New albums from Bury Your Dead, Crystal Castles, She and Him...
Unearth - Alive From the Apocalypse DVD
Old and new meet in this program that combines Unearth's devastating 2007 live show with a documentary on their humble beginnings in Massachusetts. Exclusive interviews, music videos, and a photo slideshow help fill out this story of a struggling metal band, their early days on the road, and explosive rise to the top. Performed in Pomona, California, the concert includes the songs "Giles," "Sanctity Of Brothers" "Zombie Autopilot," and many others.
Crystal Castles - S/T
Highly anticipated debut full length release from Toronto-based electro duo. Following a huge word-of-mouth fan base, the duo has recieved substantial support on PITCHFORK, and have remixed songs for BLOC PARTY and KLAXONS.
She & Him - Volume One
This is the musical debut from M. Ward and Zooey Deschanel, paired together by director Martin Hayens to perform the Richard and Linda Thompson tune "When I Get To The Border" for his film "The Go-Getter". Their match sparked the idea for "Volume One".
Bone Thugs - Still Creepin On Ah Come Up
This album is an extension of that classic Bone sound that fans have come to know and love.
Bury Your Dead - Bury Your Dead
Now armed with a new singer and a ferocious no holds barred attitude, they walk into 2008 with the defining album of their career. The new album is the amalgamation of this band's music, life, and legacy as one of today's most intense bands.
Destroyer - Trouble in Dreams
This release cements Vancouver, BC's Dan Bejar as an artist as quirky and enigmatic as David Bowie, as symphonic and grandiose as Scott Walker, and as quixotically literary as Bob Dylan. A collection of songs that is fresh and confounding, yet befitting the Destroyer canon. "Of all contemporary songwriters, he's been the biggest influence and inspiration. Because he is pretentious, but in a way that makes it into a game where we all get to pretend to be so grand" - Okkervil River's Will Sheff.
A Girl A Gun A Ghost - Through the Eyes of Ahab
This is 14 monolithic tracks of adrenalized, sprawling heavy rock that combines the best of Every Time I Die, Buried Inside, Isis, and Refused.
Terror - Live at CBGB June 10, 2004
Straight from the soundboard to your speakers. Rawer than raw.
Ghost Buffalo - The Magician
Ghost Buffalo call Denver home. They put out one hell of a gothic country record when they released their self titled album in 2005. On this release, they have lost some of the twang and traded it in for a heavier sound.
A Kiss Could Be Deadly - S/T
This quintet's fusion of punk, new wave, and electro has a chemistry all its own. They've performed with Berlin, The English Beat, The Aquabats, I Am Ghost, The Plimsouls, When In Rome, and more. Named Alternative Press's #1 Unsigned Band for 2007.
The Kills - Midnight Boom
This duo subtly and organically fuses pop, glam, blues, art-punk, and hip-hop in a manner that flits between light and dark, funny and morbid, experimental and cute. The result is a short, sharp twelve track album of sensual, fresh, and atmospheric songs. A reminder that no one on earth makes rock 'n' roll quite like The Kills.
The A.K.A.s - Everybody Make Some Noise!
Combining raucous guitars, compulsive rhythms, ominous organs, and manic vocal diatribes, The A.K.A.'s musical delivery is smartly served in a sophisticated package of defiance, self-empowerment, and social change. Covertly tucked in catchy choruses and consonant hooks, the band's message is as coherent and authentic as it is vital. Twelve daringly confident tracks designed to create a fearless uproar from city streets to suburban strip malls with equal indifference. Guest appearances from JT Woodruff (Hawthorne Heights), Chris #2 (Anti-Flag), and Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys).
Devotchka - A Mad and Faithful Telling
This four-piece multi-instrumental outfit fuses gypsy, Greek, Slavic, and mariachi with American punk and folk roots. Directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris chose DeVotchKa to score "Little Miss Sunshine" in 2006, the breakout indie film of the year, garnering four Academy Award nominations and earning DeVotchKa a Grammy nod for Best Soundtrack. Their stage set up is fortified by sousaphone, accordion, piano, violin, a bouzouki, upright bass, percussion, trumpet, drums, and a Theramin. The band has toured with similar maverick acts such as Calexico and Flogging Molly and will also appeal to fans of Arcade Fire, Neko Case, and David Byrne.
Be Your Own Pet - Get Awkward
Band consists of 4 teenagers from Nashville, TN who play punk rock…real punk rock. Look for them on tour Spring of '08.
