This week's releases:
Thrice - The Alchemy Index III & IV
Thrice's boundary pushing continues with the second installment of the "Alchemy Index" series. "Volumes I & II: Fire & Water," released in October 2007, were met with tremendous critical acclaim and fanfare. Fans and critics were especially impressed with the "Water" side and just how far the band had pushed the parameters of what they can do as professional musicians. The "Air & Earth" series show two more sides of the band that anyone has yet to see. The "Air" side will expose a more soft rock side while "Earth" will showcase a more stripped down, raw element of the band.
The Gossip - Live in Liverpool (CD/DVD)
Recorded live in Liverpool July 9 2007.
Does It Offend You, Yeah? - You Have No Idea What You're Getting Yourself Into
This band have taken the dance music blueprint laid down by Justice, the Neptunes, and DFA 1979 and have given it a complete fuckover. They sound dance. They act rock.
ADHD - Let it Burn
ADHD present their long awaited follow up to “Til’ Your Ears Bleed.” After continual touring around the US the group headed back to Southern California to write and records their best effort to date. With the same in-your-face punk/rock n roll you’ve come to expect, “Let It Burn” is the barn-burning album you’ve been waiting for. For fans of The Hives, AC/DC, The Ramones.
Arsis - We Are the Nightmare
Well known for their relentless touring, Virginia's Arsis returned to the studio to record "We Are The Nightmare," and will be back on the road immediately following the release. These ten tracks showcase the band's creative blend of melodic death metal, black metal influenced vocals, technical riffing and precise drumming. Bonus DVD includes the video for the title track, live and behind the scenes footage.
The Kooks - Konk
The band is back with the release of their eagerly anticipated sophomore album, the stunning follow up to their breakout debut. They continue their freewheeling spirit and demonstrate how they've upped their game with this collection of dynamic new songs including the first single "Always Where I Need To Be".
M83 - Saturdays = Youth
Latest is M83's [a.k.a. Anthony Gonzalez] most explicit celebration yet of how it feels to be dazed, confused and 15 years old.First single is "Graveyard Girl"
Bad Dudes - Eat Drugs
From the ashes of Miracle Chosuke, Bad Dudes picks up where they left off expanding their hyper-tech synth-punk. Its been called party prog. Part of the Smell Scene where they have played with Mae Shi, No Age, Health, etc.
Embrace the End - Ley Lines
Sophomore release from the band whose members are a deadly five-headed beast bent on eradicating all those who so carelessly use the word "brutal" to describe other bands. They are unrelenting in all facets from their destructive music to their lyrics and vision.
Lyrics Born - Everywhere At Once
Lyrics Born (a.k.a. Tom Shimura) has long been known for his innovative beats, creative collaborations, and soulful vocals. Here he takes a giant leap forward in song craft, incorporating elements such as pop, reggaeton, and R&B. It's the rare MC who can bridge the gap between hip-hop and alternative rock, owning the crowd at Bonnaroo and Bumbershoot as easily as he trades rhymes with Charlie 2na.
Annotations of an Autopsy - Before the Throne of Infection
Annotations Of An Autopsy formed in late 2006 with the purpose of writing aggressive, low-end death metal and playing it with passion, aggression and determination to insure they made their mark on the metal music scene worldwide. Influenced by bands such as Skinless, The Acacia Strain and Aborted, they mix old and new school death metal to form their own brand of aggressive death. Annotations Of An Autopsy have grown to be one of the most successful bands in the UK and have left their mark as one of the most aggressive live acts out there.
Thine Eyes Bleed - S/t
After taking a year off to write and record, the band return to the metal scene with an album of pure brutality and technical thrash ferocity, a blistering onslaught of dagger life riffs, detonating rhythm section and lung collapsing vocals.
Newly available/arrived on LP:
Capsule - Blue (LP with CD)
"Blue" is a confounding conglomeration of blasting time-signatures, galloping punk spirit and a ghostly vocal chorus that buzzes through a mountain of guitar and bass. Blurry, buried shouts are surrounded by thunderous songs played at every tempo in the punk and metal spectra. Members of Capsule have done time in Torche and Tyranny Of Shaw, and currently also play in Kylesa and Monarchs. This is packaged in a gatefold cover with a CD accompanying the record of the entire album.
Lamb of God - Ashes of the Wake, Sacrament, Killadelphia
All 3 albums newly repressed on vinyl.
Metallica - Kill 'Em All Deluxe Edition
this deluxe vinyl is at 45 rpm! Yes! 2 LP set!
*There has been a delay at the printing plant and the Standard version of Kill 'Em All, along with the deluxe and standard versions of Ride the Lightning, have been delayed. Hopefully we will be seeing them by the end of this week.
