New albums from The Roots, Portishead, Boris, Walls of Jericho, MSI and more...
Unfortunately I do not have the new New Found Glory/International Superheroes of Hardcore album(s) in time for its release date, but copies will be arriving on Friday. As for what I do have for this release date:
Testament - Formation of Damnation
The core of the classic lineup have reunited to bring you this release and they're ready to say that they are still an undeniable force in the thrash metal scene.
Portishead - Third (CD and LP)
First studio album in 10 years from this group who formed in the UK in '91.
The Roots - Rising Down
The darkly funky, politically charged 10th album released by the legendary 'roots crew' is the product of more than a year of recording and includes a slew of guests such as Common, Chrisette Michele and Talib Kweli to name a few.
Dizzee Rascal - Maths and English
Dizzee's despairing wail, focused anger and cutting sonics places him on the front lines in the battle against a stultifying Britain. US release features 3 exclusive new tracks not on the UK version.
Boris - Smile
On their latest the band's brush paints deeply intense blistering psychedelic, mammoth hooks, innovative songwriting and a reinvention of dark haeviness. Collaborative guests include Stephen O'Malley and Michio Kurihara.
Mindless Self-Indulgence - If (standard CD, deluxe CD and LP)
New York's Mindless Self Indulgence is an inflammatory band which has been mixing punk rock and driving electronic music together since 1997. Deluxe 6 panel digipak contains a bonus dvd with performances of five songs recorded live from various venues. It also includes the lyrics to all of the songs on the album plus exclusive artwork by Jhonen Vasquez (Invader Zim).
Hayden - In Field and Town
2008 release, the Canadian's first album in four years. Hayden rose from the lakes of Ontario in the late '90s and was immediately hailed as 'the new Beck'. While Hayden's music is much more akin to Ontario's other favorite son, Neil Young, he has been known to cut and paste like Mr. Hansen. In Field & Town features 11 top quality songs that perfectly match his deep infectious voice and toe-tapping Folk tunes.
Santogold - S/T
"Singing in a haunting, sensual wail...she adds a layer of softness to an unusual mix of synthesizers, dance hall rhythms, and percolating new wave" - NY Times.
"Future-pop princess...next big thing" - Spin.
"Santi White is Santogold...the collaborators and players may change, the sounds may shift, but at the center is one woman's indelible vision" - The Fader.
2007 tours with Bjork and M.I.A.
With Dead Hands Rising - Expect Hell
For their third release the band has stepped it up musically to spread their message of dynamic heavy metal, bringing their breakdowns to the brink, structuring songs with death metal slants and mosh inducing metalcore.
Nerf Herder - IV
The original Nerf Herder lineup return with a brand new album of classic punk pop nerd rock.
Walls of Jericho - Redemption EP
This release marks a new depth of creativity to the band featuring acoustic instruments, melodic vocals and fleshed out arrangements. It was produced Corey Taylor who also provides vocals on several tracks.
Make Believe - Going to the Bone Church (LP only)
Tim Kinsella's non-Joan of Arc project takes you on a primitive, and tribal trip, creating something haunting and hypnotic.
Shipment was delayed on these items, they will be arriving Friday:
New Found Glory - Tip of the Iceberg 7"
Three songs from the EP by New Found Glory titled "Tip Of The Iceberg," which is also available on CD as a split with International Superheroes Of Hardcore. Features two original songs that are sure to become fan favorites and a Gorilla Biscuits cover paying homage to a band that inspired New Found Glory in their early days, showing new fans where New Found Glory came from and old fans that NFG didn't forget their roots. Available on a picture 7" or colored vinyl.
International Superheroes of Hardcore - Takin it Ova! LP
ISHC is all five members of New Found Glory playing new roles as hardcore musician superheroes with guitarist Chad Gilbert taking over the mic and NFG vocalist Jordan Pudnik replacing Gilbert on guitar. Musically finding itself somewhere between early recordings of Sick Of It All, Youth Of Today, and Judge, "Takin' It Ova!" shows a side to the band that people might not have known existed.
